Nick Carter would happily date a fan.

The Backstreet Boys star - who previously had a high-profile relationship with Paris Hilton - insists he is willing to date girls from different backgrounds, as long as they challenge him mentally.

He said: "I've dated fans, friends, celebrities, business associates, everyone - I don't discriminate. People do what they do and it doesn't matter to me. I don't rule out the possibility of dating someone because of what they do or who they are.

"I want a nice person who has a spark that intrigued me intellectually."

However, Nick has ruled himself out of getting involved in another celebrity romance, and believes he has matured since splitting from Paris.

He added: "I don't know if I'd have another high-profile relationship, I've grown up a lot since Paris. It would have to be with a person who was really grounded and mature and was over that whole playing-around stage."

Nick also admits he isn't sure if he will ever feel ready to settle down and start a family.

He told Britain's OK! magazine: "I haven't thought about fatherhood. I'm thinking about myself and I'm not the marrying kind. I'm not saying I wouldn't change my mind, but if I did I'd run away and do it in secret so no one would ever know.

"I'm energetic and youthful and it's exciting. I'm not ready to settle just yet."

BACKSTREET BOYS have dismissed speculation their record company is on the verge of dropping them. Jive Records were reported to have been preparing to kick the U.S. boy band off its roster. However, a spokesperson for the label tells website TMZ.com, "Reports about Jive Records dropping Backstreet Boys are completely untrue. "The group is about to embark on a worldwide tour in support of their album, Unbreakable, starting 16 February (08) in Tokyo, as well as some high-profile television appearances."

Leighanne Littrell: Wylee Inspiration

My son was my inspiration for this bag line. His name is Baylee Thomas Wylee Littrell. I guess you could say my husband was too.

You see my husband is an entertainer and that means we travel, A LOT.  After I had my son, we started flying with him by the age of 3 months. I was breastfeeding at the time and used a breastfeeding pillow. I loved having the breastfeeding pillow on the plane with me because it was perfect for Baylee  to sleep on as well as to feed him on. The only problem with this is that the pillow is a funny shape and I didn't have a bag that would hold the pillow and all the other things that go into a diaper bag: diapers, baby wipes, medicines,…etc. We would schlep it through the airport and on occasion it would fall on the floor of the airport. This was absolutely terrifying to me. All of those germs!! And my baby was to lie on this? Oh no no no!  So one day I bought a sewing machine (I never sewed on one in my life) and took a sheet and started making a bag. I made the pattern and started using the bag. Before long I worked out the kinks and viola, I had the perfect bag for me.  People would give me compliments and I ended up making a few for gifts, and then started selling quite a few.

These bags hold everything and are functional as well as beautiful. I made this diaper bag a backpack for a reason. Often I would use a carrier to hold Baylee so I could have my hands free, not to mention that babies seem to really like them. And when we would travel, it was great to have him on my front and the diaper bag on my back. The diaper bag stays secure so when I lean over it doesn't fall off my shoulder. I still have my arms free! Alas, I can still hold tickets, purchase food,……whatever and not have to put anything down or worry about holding Baylee.

After Baylee stopped breastfeeding, I made a smaller bag that we could put his things in, now our diaper bag holds DVD players, movies, coloring books, crayons, toy trains, you name it. I also use the backpacks as my bag when I don't' have Baylee.

My life is my family so it is important to live everyday to the fullest and to alleviate as much stress as possible. My husband and I have been carrying these backpacks for over a year now and we love them. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we do.

Thank you very much, and God Bless
Leighanne Littrell

Nick Carter's Mother in the Doghouse

The fragile reconciliation between Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his mother Jane is definitely off, after Jane dumped Nick's dog Layla at a North Tampa animal shelter earlier this week -- without Nick's knowledge or permission. Doggin'!

Nick asked his mother to babysit for pit bull mix Layla, while he geared up for his upcoming reunion tour with Backstreet Boys. He was even paying her for the dog's upkeep, but apparently, Jane had no interest in holding up her end of the bargain.

Ranelle Black, who rescued the pit bull from an L.A. County animal shelter and let Nick adopt the pup in March 2006, said she received a call from the Florida shelter on Monday, after volunteers identified Layla via microchip implant. Black, who volunteers with L.A. Animal Services and regularly fosters pit bulls, had Layla implanted with the chip to track her whereabouts.

"I called Nick and he had no idea that his mother had dumped Layla. He was very choked up," said Black, who noted that Carter spent more than $7,000 to train the precocious pup.

Said Carter's publicist, Juliette Harris, "Nick is devastated and frustrated, and is doing everything he can to get Layla safely back."

Because there's a pit bull ban on commercial airlines, Nick is going to either "charter a plane to fly her back, or fly dog handlers out to bring her back to him," said Harris. Ain't that a bitch?!

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough to Marry

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough to Marry | Howie Dorough

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough and his longtime girlfriend, Leigh Boniello, are engaged, the couple tell PEOPLE exclusively.

They plan to marry later this year.

"She wasn't expecting it, and I was quite nervous – more nervous about proposing to her in front of 40 family and friends than about performing in front of 40,000 people onstage," Dorough says of the New Year's Eve proposal at Boniello's family home in New Jersey.

The couple, both 33, met in 2000, when Boniello, a film-exec-turned-real-estate-broker, was working as the Backstreet Boys' Webmaster.

They say they were "very careful" to keep their engagement private at first, but with the wedding right around the corner, felt it was finally time to share the news. "We're very, very excited," says Dorough.

The proposal to his "soulmate" was carefully planned in a matter of days. Dorough says he looked at "at least 40 or 50 diamonds" before he prepared his "Will you marry me?" speech while he and an unsuspecting Boniello were on an annual benefit cruise. (The trip was to support the Dorough Lupus Foundation, founded in honor of his late sister.)

"And I asked her mother, father and grandmother for their permission," he adds.

"He decided to pull a practical joke on me in front of my whole family," Boniello says of the big day. "He acted like he forgot to give me one present for Christmas – it was in a large box."

Playing off an inside joke that Dorough was "dangling carrots" in front of Boniello whenever they talked about marriage during their 6-year relationship, she opened the box and found three large carrots inside.

"She was laughing and trying to tell everyone the joke and by the time she turned around I was down on one knee with the real carrot," says Dorough.

Make that more than three carats. Dorough, a native of Orlando, designed the engagement ring – one round, brilliant-cut diamond surrounded by two smaller round diamonds, all set in platinum – with a family friend at Plantation Jewelers in Winter Garden, Fla.

"It meant a lot for my whole family to hear it," she says. "The room was filled with love, more than I ever expected."

The couple is planning a wedding for 250 guests while the Backstreet Boys, currently promoting their new single "Inconsolable," prepare to release their sixth studio album on Oct. 30.

"We've invited all the Backstreet Boys, including Kevin [Richardson]," says Dorough, who has no hard feelings about Richardson's departure from the group last summer. "Actually, Kevin was one of the first people I told about our engagement."

And like Richardson – whose wife Kristin gave birth to son Mason in July – Dorough and Boniello say they can't wait to start a family.

"Hopefully I will be the next one to add to the [Backstreet Boy] family," says Dorough.

Backstreet Boys Hope New Album Shows 'Evolution'

The countdown has begun on the Backstreet Boys' Web site for their Oct. 30 Jive album, which is as-yet-untitled. Group member Nick Carter tells Billboard.com the Boys are still tweaking things in the studio and will cut vocals for a couple more tracks today (Aug. 10).

"We are just putting the finishing touches on it and it sounds incredible," Carter says. The album, whose first single, "
Inconsolable," goes to top 40 radio Aug. 27 but can be sampled now on BackstreetBoys.com, will include 11 or 12 songs, Carter speculates.

"We didn't needed to cut that many because I think that we're back into our rhythm of what the group is about," he says. "I felt like 'Never Gone,' the last album we did [in 2005], was basically an experimental album in the sense that we'd been away for four years. We were just trying to find out niche again and I think now we're back in that pocket."

Despite the loss of original member Kevin Richardson, Carter says BSB "didn't have to make to many adjustments" in the studio. "The one thing about being in a five-part vocal harmony group is that it makes it a lot easier. I'm not saying we couldn't sing a cappella better or just as well [with Kevin], but people who know the Backstreet Boys know what we can do and it wasn't too hard. We're all great singers so we can all cover different ranges. AJ sings bass too. I can sing bass. So, we just cover the parts."

Carter also feels the pressure to return to multi-platinum heights has been lifted, allowing the group to enjoy doing what it does best. "We know that we're an entertainment group. We like to dance and sing, and the stage show is one of the biggest assets that we bring," says Carter. "When we were in the studio, we just wanted to create something that was true to us, but at the same time an evolution of some sort."
The group plans to tour in support of the new album in the beginning of 2008. "A long, great show" is what Carter promises. "We're always stoked to get out there."

"Inconsolable" is the first single from the group's forthcoming album slated for release on October 30, 2007.

"Inconsolable" was written and produced by Emanuel Kiriakou (Nick Lachey "What's Left Of Me", Katherine McPhee "Ordinary World"), and co-written by Lindy Robbins and Jess Cates. The track impacts at Top 40 Radio on August 27.

This month the Backstreet Boys celebrate the 10th Anniversary of their first U.S. release Backstreet Boys. To date they have released 5 studio albums and have sold over 75 million albums worldwide, and making them one of the most successful groups of all time.

Last summer, founding member Kevin Richardson decided to take a break from the group and pursue other interests. With his blessing, the four remaining members, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean, proceeded to record the follow-up to their 2005 platinum album Never Gone. Backstreet Boys have no intention of replacing Kevin, preferring to leave the door open for his return.
